CAREER DAY “Team Visit” Presentation
(45-55 minute classroom session in school, or half day off-site)
Panel of adults from industry and one working student (classroom sessions only) speak to classes about what employers expect from new employees and career opportunities in the industry. An Academies, Inc. staff member acts as the facilitator. Contact: Page Huey

PRACTICE INTERVIEWS
(A half-day on May 16, 17 or 18, 2007)
Each volunteer will conduct interviews for three Academy juniors during the morning and complete a brief feedback form. The session is at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and should end around noon. We need several hundred volunteer interviewers. Contact: Page Huey

10th GRADE YOUTH MENTORING
Business Mentoring Youth is the regions leading work-based mentoring program for 10th grade students in the Philadelphia High schools. Your company can provide 10th graders with the opportunity to experience the world of work through unpaid internships. We are seeking business professionals who will be a positive role model and a good listener and are able to spend 2-4 hours per week with a 10th grader at your company. 10th graders will be selected by their teacher to participate in the program. Mentor training and student matches begin in November. The internships occur from January to June each year.

JUDGING AT STUDENT EVENTS
(45 – 60 minutes)
Judge student competitions for senior projects, speeches, or other related Projects. Contact: Corvette Kittrell

OTHER
Donate gifts for Awards Assemblies for honor roll, perfect attendance, etc. such as company give-aways, t-shirts. May also include tickets to museum/sporting events, provide space or workshops, teacher training, donation of books/equipment, etc. Contact: Stephanie Smith
