Connect the Dots is a program designed to help high school seniors start thinking about transitioning to their post-secondary life, whether they are attending school or going into the workforce.

On Monday, April 30, 2012, they will have the opportunity to experience their first “professional” networking event and learn valuable lessons around financial literacy, problem solving, and taking initiative.

The structure of the day will be similar to our longstanding Interview Expo, and the events of the day will be loosely structured around the following topics:

  • Learning to take initiative and be responsible for your own progress both academically and professionally.
  • Honing problem solving skills.
  • Developing networking skills and how networking can be beneficial in both school and work.
  • Crafting an elevator speech.

If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please email Diera Shaw-Mendez at dshaw@academiesinc.org.  Or you can sign-up directly here

On Tuesday, May 1, 2012, over 150 high school students will arrive at the Pennsylvania Convention Center to participate in the 7th Annual Interview Expo.

We are currently looking for business partners to volunteer to conduct practice interviews.  If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please email Diera Shaw-Mendez at
dshaw@academiesinc.org.  Or you can sign-up directly here

Students will be broken into three groups.  The groups will rotate into an interview room to meet with business and community partners for “practice” interviews.  While each group is being interviewed, the other two groups will be participating in workshops designed to support interview skills.  Business and community partners will conduct approximately 2-3 interviews per session and will fill out a feedback form for each student they interview.
